IRON FIST is one of Marvel’s most anticipated projects and is coming this November. It’s one of a few Marvel characters along with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage which are all leading up to their big team-up in “The Defenders”.
From Luke Cage himself, Mr. Mike Colter (Jessica Jones star) claims:
“The actor has been cast, but he’s in a basement somewhere. When the time is right, they’ll let him up and tell him where he is. I am [excited]. I’ll get a nice little break, after doing Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Whether I’m in [his show], I don’t know, but there’s The Defenders.”
Many rumors have circulated about who may potentially play the martial-arts master but nothing with credibility has been found. With Marvel opting to wait to announce the actor playing Danny Rand, AKA Iron Fist, I’m hoping there’s good reason. I hope it’s not a meaningless drag before we find out and perhaps a bigger reason for it. Perhaps he’s due to premiere in the next season of “Daredevil”!
Iron Fist has also found its writer in Scott Reynolds, who also worked on Jessica Jones. He’s also previously written episodes of “Dexter” and “The Following”. It’s likely Marvel is aware of the directions they want to take the character already, having planned out much of the road leading up to “The Defenders” already.
On a side note, “Daredevil” is coming out on Netflix in a one-shot release in March. In this season we’ll see The Punisher debuted, played by Jon Bernthal (who played Shane on “Walking Dead”). We’ll also visit the character of Elektra, played by Elodie Yung. Charlie Cox will continue in the series as Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil himself.
Charlie Cox has expressed a desire to portray the lead character in any upcoming Marvel films if they were to include the character. There’s been speculation as to the character being portrayed by another actor if Daredevil is indeed to join the Avengers. I believe Cox has done an amazing job, and a huge reason why the show has been so successful. I’d hate to see the character join the Avengers with a different face.
